A couple of clowns - Red Skelton, native of Indiana: I love this particular painting because it's a clown like me, says Red Skelton, who stands near his work 'The Clown'. Skelton has close to 100 oil paintings of sad clowns, ridiculous clowns, cheerful clowns, rich clowns and poor clowns at his home. 'But I think this one is my best,' he says, 'I painted a pair at a time. One went to Maurice Chevalier who hung it in his home in Paris between an Monet and a Renoir. This is the other.' Skelton's dad was a circus clown.
