splendid
example
of the
self-educated
man
,
Mr
.
Shirley
received

Later

: "
While

will
pass
among
us this
day
, his
splendid
spirit
, his
unselfish
and
fine
character
, his
genial

useful
personality
, will
live
on. His
character
is
moulded
into
service
rendered
in its
behalf
.
We
are
grateful
for his
life
; he
left
his
community
a
finer
place
in
which
to
live.
